Handbag handy lip balms...

Thought it was time to blog about my all time favourite product, Rosebud Salve Strawberry lip balm. American brand Rosebud are an American traditional brand and all of the packaging has a cool vintage Americana feel which really appeals to me. I use the strawberry lip balm, which is also great on cuticles and honestly is the best smelling strawberry cosmetic I have ever had...its like strawberry shortcake in a tin and the smell lasts in your lips and conditions them brilliantly.
There are several great lip balms in the range, I use the strawberry one in the gold tin. Love the kitch packaging!

Smiths Rosebud cosmetics, classic all American brand

You can buy Rosebud products from House of Fraser or Ebay which is usually slightly cheaper. I paid around £7.50 for my last tin on Ebay, it lasts really well and is well worth the money.

Peplum tops, vintage waist nipping fashion...

Nothing I like more than a vintage trend, ultra femanine peplum tops and dresses are back in a big way. Perfect for nipping you in at the waist like a 50's beauty. Here are a few of my best picks...

Zara have a stunning selection of peplum styles right now, lush lace suits this trend to a T.

Christian Louboutin London Exhibition

Yesterday I paid a visit to the Christian Louboutin exhibition at the London Design Museum, and it was as delicious as it sounds! The exhibition itself was stunning, upon entering the black room you are immediately surrounded by Louboutins, and even a carousel with shoes going around it. The exhibition uses state of the art hologram technology to bring Dita Von Teese to life, performing a gorgous burlesque number in of course a pair of shimmering Louboutins. It was a sexy, modern exhibit which blew me away and gives a far greater appreciaition for Louboutin himself and his vision of sexy footwear. Visit before it closes on the 9th of July!

Denim. Classic looks and latest twists...

Ok so here is why we all love denim, it provides a timeless and effortless look which is youthful. Conveniently its constantly evolving with new trends. You will never go wrong with a pinch of Marilyn Monroes classic movie star denim look. Here are some of the latest denim trends that have got me inspired...

I really love this turqoise green denim colour, very Lady Gaga. Urban Outfitters have by far the best selection of denim shorts in my experience, they use vintage denim and re work or as they say 'Re-new' old jeans into something new, Its a genius concept and in store they have alot of choice, rrp is around £35.

Urban Outfitters

Studded denim, again its Gaga and fun. This pair is £45, Urban Outfitters. Or pop star perfect denim corset tops are also a key silhouette this season, the one below is from Topshop who have a fab selection...

Topshop high Top trainers love...

So I have a well known love for accessories, and my fetish for handbags provides me with endless reasons to buy new shoes to match. My latest love is for high top trainers, super funky heeled trainers which bring a luxury sporty feel to daytime casual. I just invested in this pair from Topshop for £75, I love layering of leather and suade with the cute zips at the side. They feel great on and look perfect with jeans, Not great for sport but ideal for posing your way thorugh this summers Olympics!

There are many high top styles in the shops right now, some have a built in wedge for extra comfort and others are traditional flats. I had a look in River Island at their selection but I didnt think they looked as high end as the Topshop pair and the quality wasnt there. Having said that they come in at £40 and River Island have lots of colour options. I was impressed by the styles from ASOS, who have a selection of trainers from designer brand Ash,

River Island £40

Neon purses trend...

There are lots of neon bright shades around this season, I think they look fab with more neautral shades to make them stand out and provide that 'pop' of colour. I just brought a neon lime leather purse to contrast with my Foggy Grey Mulberry Alexa. It certainly grabs attention!

Mine is from TKMaxx and cost just £10! So a perfect cheap way to update a look for summer. Here are some other eye popping purses which are available at the moment such as this one from Ted Baker...

My High glam Anya Hindmarch Valerie glitter clutch edit...

Dior Dream by hollywoodhandbag
Vintage Hollywood starlet chic

Anya Hindmarch, Valerie
The Anya Hindmarch Valerie clutch is pure femanine glitter glam. Its smothered in shimmering glitter to the inch and inside its suade, giving it a luxe feel. Its a sheer show stopper. Lets face it if you are a glitter loving gal you are going to love it. Drawbacks are that the glitter isnt going to be super hardwaring and will shed...probably leaving a path of glitter in its wake. However on balance this is for a really special occasion so probably wont suffer too much wear and tear.

The Anya Hindmarch Valerie costs £350 and is available in various colours.

Take a look at my style edit based around the bag Ive posted above, vintage Dior at a Parisian ball inspired me...

Marc Jacobs watch...My style ideas.

I have been after a Marc by Marc Jacobs watch for what feels like forever. I really like the bold shapes and statement colours. This black one adds a cool, hard edge to any outfit.

Have a look at my style edit which I put together posted above. I love the idea of mixing textures with the watch, leather dress with sequins and pops of coral colour.

French Connection a la The Artist

The Artist (2011) Notice the lovely Art deco detailling in this shot from the movie.

French Connection are at the top of their game for well designed, well cut designer fashion at a more affordable price. Coming in at the top end of the high street brands they produce sleek, well put together collections with the feel of a catwalk show. For me its THE shop for beautiful evening dresses, their Premium collection sets a higher price bracket around £200 + and caught my eye, heres my favourite dress which has a chic 1920's vintage feel about it, very much inkeeping with the recent Oscar winning film 'The Artist'
French Connection £350

Divinely named this 'Pearly Queen' dress is described on the French Connection website as 'Channel Art Deco' and I agree. The stylr captures the flapper spirit and is totally a glam look inspired by the movie....pricey at £350 but I have had a look at it in store and it feels so luxurious and the shimmer and detail really drew me in, hook, line, sinking..

Liberty London trainers, a summer romance!

Yes!

Have to write about the belting new trainers which have just come in at Liberty of London. Noticed them on Twitter and was on the Liberty website within minutes if not seconds to be honest! They are a really girly and summery take on iconic Nike trainers and very much inkeeping with Libertys tradition of prints. For £90 they arent going to set you back much more than a standard pair of Nike trainers and have the added benefit of....well of being pretty!!! Very Kitch summer update of a classic look.
Liberty London store. Its one of my favourite shops in London and a must visit! Or flick onto the Liberty website for a brilliant online shop which gives a great feel for the store and has more info on the Nike trainers collaboration.

Its the year of the Olympics here in London so the best summer ever for sporty summer trends is for sure!

Vintage jewllery boxes...

Following on from my post about Elizabeth Taylors stunning jewellery auction Ive been thinking about my own love for unusual, vintage accessories. I recently brought a victorian jewellery box as a new home for my stash as I think its a fitting way to store your valuables. Mine dates from around 1870 and has been refurbished so the interior is new, its a plush velvet with lots of little compartments. Victorian and Vintages jewellery boxes were so beautifuly intricate, having hidden compartments and dividers to keep everything in order, unlike some of my modern boxes which are just one big vortex!

So here it is, looks so unusual in a modern interior...

I love the signs of wear and tear on the wood, adds character! The best places to find antique boxes are EBay as well as vintage shops.

Here are some other examples of boxes to get ideas from...
